Mountain Pastels
During the time Patience lived in the Alpes Maritime she discovered the use of pastel and charcoal as an expressive means of exploring landscape, building layers of colour to capture the changing light and dramatic forms of the mountains. Patience made a series of large charcoal and pastel drawings, sometimes incorporating found objects. The work developed from an interaction between the drama and fascination of a challenging and different sort of landscape with her creative use of a new medium.
